Does Curiosity kill Connection?!
Heyyyyyy beautiful people and others ! How are y'all doing ?! Hopefully, you're doing amazing. 😄 I've had a pretty pretty good day if I do say so myself. Hopefully, you can say the same.
I've been dealing with this battle trying to break this “desire” off of me. And for some reason the more I try, the more I seem to dive further into it. Reflecting…… Reflection has me realizing that this desire has been something fueled by curiosity. Which the word tells us to not be curious in unnecessary matters (Ecc 3:23).
I can admit that what I've been into is absolutely unnecessary. Considering that God tells us to come to him for what we need (Matt 7:7). Simply put the “curiosity” I have could be easily quenched by going to God. Not seeking solutions or answers outside of him. When I reflect on this battle of mine. It makes me think of Solomon.
Solomon had everything anyone typically desires or wants. Yet, his relationship with his many foreign wives influenced him to worship other Gods (1 Kings 11). Shifting his connection with the true source. There are many of us like Solomon who get caught up in the “noise” around us (I know I'm one 🙋🏿♀️). We get so deep into trying to figure out “What's going on?!” that we get a little too deep into things that kill our connection from source. From God.
Only when we take a moment to be still do we obtain clarity or steps to course correct.
Oftentimes we pray and ask God to show up for us and when he does we sometimes miss his answer because he typically doesn't show up how we want him to. Yet, he always shows up in ways that push us into his next best position for us. When God shifts us it's not always comfortable. Oftentimes, it requires stretching. And of course as we age our bodies don't always stretch with ease as they once did. (Unless you've been staying pretty active 😄.)
God's love for us makes him want to keep us close to him. When we choose to wander off and do our own thing it can sometimes put a strain on the connection we have with him. Thankfully, one of the things we can celebrate 🥳 about God's love is that it comes with grace. We just have to be mindful that we don't take it for granted.
What are your thoughts?! Do you think curiosity kills connection?! Let me know in the comments below.
Love ya, later!!
Shya 💚
